Mackenzie Anthony
30 AttackerMackenzie Anthony was the Wellington Phoenix’s final visa signing in January 2026, replacing Sabitra Bhandari on a deal until the end of the 25-26 season.
The American striker is coming off an excellent first pro season, playing for Shelbourne in Ireland, where she was the second highest scorer in the competition with 23 goals.
She spent the offseason training with a group of men’s players, who were turning pro or in between clubs, at Bridges FC in her hometown of Chicago.
Anthony had previously enjoyed a prolific college career at both Baylor and Michigan State University.
2024-25 season
Mackenzie Anthony had a standout rookie pro season in the League of Ireland, starring for Shelbourne FC.
She scored 23 goals in 25 games, ending as the league’s second top scorer as Shelbourne finished runners-up.
And she believes her style of play will translate well to the A-League.
“I’m good at putting the ball in the net and holding the ball up. I also love taking on players one- vs-one and I’m good at aerial duels too.
I got a lot of confidence playing in Ireland, which was great. I scored a lot of goals and I loved Dublin, the team and the club, so it was a great first year as a pro.
“I feel good, healthy and fit, so I’m ready.”
