Luke Supyk signed a three-year contract with the Wellington Phoenix in late September 2023, graduating from the club’s academy.

The New Zealand U-17 international was the youngest member of the men’s squad for the 2023-24 A-League.

Supyk joined the Phoenix academy in 2021, following in the footsteps of his older brother Adam, after playing his junior football at Waimakariri United and Nomads United in Canterbury.

He was the top goal scorer at the OFC U-17 Championship in January 2023 to help New Zealand qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

Supyk broke into the Phoenix reserves squad later in the year and scored four goals, including three in as many games, in the Central League.

He wasn’t in the first group of academy players called up to train with the first team in pre-season, but impressed when did get the nod.

As a result, Supyk made his first team debut for the Phoenix in August, coming off the bench late in the second half of the round of 16 Australia Cup match against Melbourne City.

He was in 14 matchday squads in his first A-League season and made his debut for the Nix off the bench against Western Sydney in December 2023.

Supyk made a further three substitute appearances during the season while also playing regularly for the reserves, including scoring twice in the 2023 National League.

In July 2024 Supyk was part of the New Zealand squad which won the U-19 OFC Championship, scoring twice in the final.

> 2024-25 season

Luke Supyk started his second season as a pro in the Phoenix reserves, starting seven of their nine matches in the National League.

Supyk found the back of the net against Cashmere Tech in round two.

He had to wait until round eight to force his way into the A-League matchday squad and made his season debut off the bench at Melbourne City in round 12.

Supyk made a further five appearances, including making his first start in the 2-1 win at Macarthur FC in round 15.

He headed to Chile in June to represent the New Zealand U-20 side in two friendlies in preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup later in the year.
