Lucía León helped Adelaide United enjoy their most successful season in her first year in the A-League.

León scored five goals and contributed three assists for the Reds as they finished third on the ladder before losing to Melbourne Victory over two legs in the semi-finals.

She started all 26 of their matches playing as a wingback, right midfielder and winger.

León believes she can bring a lot to the Nix, particularly with her international experience.

“Even though I’m classified as a defender, I would describe myself as aggressive going forward. I’ve always tried to do stuff that is exciting for the crowd.

“I’ve played in a wingback position with a lot of freedom to attack, to explore. I’m a creative player, so I try to read the game, be more strategic and use my technique.

“Representing the Dominican Republic is an honour for me. It’s something that I also try to bring to my club, and hopefully everyone gets to know a little more of my roots.

“I’m excited to bring that cultural side to the team. I’m just excited to meet everyone, the fans as well.”
