Ellie Walker

Ellie Walker was the Wellington Phoenix’s second visa signing for the 2025-26 Ninja A-League.

The American centre back has played the past three seasons in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino, Portugal’s top division.

Walker was born in Portland and played 82 matches over five seasons at Portland University.

She joined SCU Torreense in Portugal in 2022 after graduating from college and played two seasons with them.

Ellie Walker moved to SC Braga and helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League with a third-place finish in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino.

Walker made 25 appearances for Braga and played 90 minutes in each of them.

She signed with the Phoenix in June and is looking forward to the next chapter in her career.

“I spent three years in Portugal, I knew the league really well and I felt that it was time to look at other leagues.

“I was really interested in what the Wellington Phoenix are looking to do, and also in the league itself.

“You know how the football world is, it’s so small. I had a teammate who had played in the A-League, and I’d heard really good things about it.”
