Wellington Phoenix are excited to announce that Callan Elliot has signed an extension on his contract to the end of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.
Elliot, the Scottish-born midfielder has enjoyed a breakout season under Mark Rudan after enjoying his debut against Central Coast Mariners in the 8-2 win back in March, before making another appearance in the 4-1 win over Newcastle Jets.
The 19-year old defender came on for experienced full-back Louis Fenton, and he showed the potential he carries as he produced a hungry performance, showing his intense work-rate and dedication to the team.
Elliot, expressed his delight in signing for a further year as he looks to continue his progression in the professional environment.
“I am overjoyed to have extended my stay here at the club and I can’t wait to kick on and improve.
“Since signing here last year, I have enjoyed every moment of being in this professional environment.
“I have made sure to listen to all the advice from the coaches and players to aid my development so I will continue to listen and continue to improve.”
Head Coach, Mark Rudan commented on the potential the New Zealand U-20s full-back possesses.
“We knew what we were getting when he came in and he impressed me even further with his willingness to learn and his ability to take things on board.’’
“I only see him improving further and becoming a strong part of this club moving forward.”
Elliot, could feature in the Round 27 final game of the regular season this weekend against Perth Glory away as Louis Fenton remains injured.
