Wellington Phoenix Launches 21/22 Season Memberships

With the 21/22 A-League Season draw confirmed for the Wellington Phoenix Men’s and Women’s teams and the confirmation of Sky Sport as the NZ broadcaster, the Club is pleased to launch its 21/22 Season Membership packages.

We don’t know what the future holds, but as a Club we’re doing everything we possibly can to ensure that our teams – both the Men’s and Women’s sides – can return to New Zealand to play in front of our home fans by 29 Jan 2022.

The Phoenix have earmarked a probable return to Aotearoa on 29 January 2022, taking on Melbourne Victory at Wellington’s Sky Stadium – the first match of a four-game homestand and part of nine home matches overall which are expected to be played on New Zealand soil.

The Club is also actively working with APL to have its women’s side return to New Zealand early next year, to take part in multiple double-header matches alongside the men’s team.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager, David Dome, says that the Club needed some degree of certainty around the upcoming season draw before committing to launch its season membership packages.

“It has always been our intention to offer season memberships for the coming season, it’s something our fans have been asking us for – but obviously this is complicated by the Covid situation and not knowing exactly when the team can return to New Zealand,” says Dome.

“We don’t know what the future holds, but as a Club we’re doing everything we possibly can to ensure that our teams – both the Men’s and Women’s sides – can return to New Zealand to play in front of our home fans by 29 Jan 2022.

Dome says that the Club will be heavily reliant on its fans supporting the team as season members, as a way of ensuring the Club’s ability to remain financially stable.

“As many fans know, Covid has taken a heavy toll on this Club over the past 18 months, especially in a financial sense; the costs of re-locating the players to another country are simply massive and we don’t have any match day revenue to help offset this.

“What we’re asking our fans to do is to make a commitment to the Phoenix by purchasing a season membership in support of this Club, not just for the games back in New Zealand in 2022 but also in recognition of the challenges and sacrifices we’ve had to face over the past two years in order to get to this point.”

The 21/22 Wellington Phoenix season membership range includes access to all matches played in New Zealand, along with new-look merchandise and package types; including the new ‘VIP Membership’ alongside the popular ‘Yellow Fever’ and ‘Family Zone’ options.

Dome says that fans are eager to see the Phoenix in person, as evidenced by the two record-breaking matches played in New Zealand at the end of last season.

“Our Wellington match on 22 May [versus Western United in front of 24,000 fans] and in Auckland on 30 May [at Eden Park with 23,000 fans] will go down in history as two of the most defining matches in Club history.

“It’s important for us to build off of these matches and their success; we want to offer the absolute best fan experience in the country to all of our supporters in the stadium – that’s our goal and we won’t settle for anything less.”
