Wellington Phoenix Academy Coach, Lee Padmore is due to depart the club after accepting a Director of Football position at Mainland Football. As part of the role, Padmore will become Head Coach at Canterbury United ahead of the ISPS Handa Premiership 2019/20 season.
Padmore came to the club last year, taking the Wellington Phoenix U16s side and developing the culture and quality of football in the youth side.
In his time at the club, not only did he progress the standard of the side but also helped them develop their professional ethos.
”I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Wellington Phoenix, it’s a fantastic environment and great things are happening here.
”It was great to be part of an Academy that’s going from strength to strength with some great young players coming through.
”I wish them all the best in the future,” Padmore commented.
Wellington Phoenix Director of Football, Paul Temple is happy for the departing Padmore and believes he will go on to great things inside the coaching space.
”Lee showed his utmost professionalism whilst at the Academy and this just goes to show that we’re not only helping develop playing talent but coaching talent too.
”Lee has proven he is a quality young coach and I have no doubt he’ll go on to become a success, we wish him all the best in his new role,” Temple said.
