The Wellington Phoenix are supplying over half the squad for the OFC Women’s U-19 Championship to take place later this month in Tahiti.
First team members Daisy Brazendale, Ela Jerez, and Brooke Neary have all been named in the side, and will be joined by academy players Grace Bartlett, Lily Brazendale, Isla Cleall-Harding, Amber De Wit, Alyssha Eglinton, Mackenzie Greene, and Poppy O’Brien.
Head coach Callum Holmes, who is also the female development lead at the Phoenix academy, will be aiming to secure New Zealand’s ninth title in his first tournament with the team.
The U-19 Football Ferns have been drawn in Group B, where they will face New Caledonia, Vanuatu, and Tahiti, all at Stade Paea in Papeete.
The two finalists in the tournament will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The team start against Tahiti on 23 September at 1pm NZT (22 September at 3pm local), before facing New Caledonia on 26 September at 9am NZT (25 September at 11am local), then Vanuatu on 29 September at 10am NZT (28 September at 11am local).
