The Wellington Phoenix will kick off their 2016-2017 pre-season campaign against Wairarapa United at Trusthouse Memorial Park on Tuesday June 28.

The game will kick-off at 6pm but the Phoenix players will be at the ground from approximately 3.30pm to meet local footballers and participate in join in activities with them

Phoenix general manager David Dome said it was an opportunity for Wairarapa fans to see the Phoenix pre-season preparations and a chance for the club to visit a passionate football area.

“We are always seeking opportunities to take the club into other footballing areas and this is one of them,” Dome said.

“It is also appropriate we kick off in Wairarapa given United coach Paul Ifill’s association with the Phoenix where he had a stellar career and was a favourite with the fans.”
