The Wellington Phoenix are one of four clubs that will travel to Melbourne for the next round of the Hahn Australia Cup.
The Phoenix have drawn Nunawading City FC in the round of 16, which will be played from August 9-13.
Nunawading City is based in Forest Hill, a suburb of Melbourne and play in VPL 2, the third tier of football in Victoria.
Nuna, as they are nicknamed, are enjoying an historic season. They beat NPL Victoria side Hume City 4-0 to qualify for the Australia Cup final rounds for the first time and then beat Darwin Olympic 9-0 in the round of 32. It is the biggest winning margin, and most goals scored in a match in Cup history.
The Phoenix secured their place in the round of 16 by beating Perth Glory 8-7 on penalties in Perth on Sunday night.
This the fifth time the Nix have progressed to the last 16 it will be just the second time they have played non-A-League opposition at this stage of the Cup.
It’s anticipated venues, dates and timings for the round of 16 will be confirmed next week.
The draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals also took place on Wednesday night.
The winner of the round of 16 match between the Phoenix and Nunawading City will play either Heidelberg United or Western Sydney Wanderers in the quarter-finals.
Whoever progresses from that quarter-final will play either South Melbourne, Auckland FC, Sydney United 58 or Sydney FC for a place in the final.
