National League preview 18-20 October

Two home matches await the Wellington Phoenix in round four of the 2024 National League this weekend.

On Saturday, the Phoenix men’s reserves will aim to extend their two match unbeaten run when they take on Coastal Spirit at Fraser Park at 12.30pm.

Some good early showings have the Nix in fourth a third of the way through the season, ahead of their opponents on goal difference.

Coastal Spirit have had a rollercoaster beginning to the campaign, holding reigning champions Wellington Olympic to a scoreless draw in round one before losing 6-2 and winning 5-0 in their next two games.

The Phoenix women’s reserves will be targeting their first points against winless Eastern Suburbs on Sunday at Fraser Park, with kickoff at 12.30pm.

The visitors are eighth, with one draw and two losses from the first three rounds.

It has been a tough start to the National League for both sides, and they will be raring to kickstart their respective campaigns.

Meanwhile, in the youth National League, the boys’ U-17 side will play off for first place in the Central area.

They face Miramar Rangers at 2pm on Saturday at Wakefield Park.

The girls’ U-17 team host Eastern Suburbs at 3pm on Sunday at Fraser Park, aiming to continue their perfect record in the league.

All senior National League games will be available to stream live and free on FIFA+.
