The biggest supporter of football in Aotearoa are now backing the country’s only professional football club.
McDonald’s has signed on as a premium partner of the Wellington Phoenix, on a multi-year deal.
The iconic golden arches appeared on the left sleeve of the men’s shirts in their season opener against Adelaide United on Sunday and will remain there for the rest of the 2022-23 Isuzu UTE A-League.
McDonald’s will be the club’s emerging talent and family partner.
“McDonald’s has been involved with junior and community football in New Zealand for over 20 years,” McDonald’s New Zealand director of marketing Luke Rive said.
“We’d been talking with the Phoenix about how we could extend that support, and the opportunity to become the family partner and support emerging talent is a perfect fit.
“Our franchisees around the country support their local football clubs, so it’s great to sponsor football right up to New Zealand’s only professional club.
“We’re looking forward to working with the Phoenix team to get families watching live and on screen, and help give the manager, staff and players what they need to succeed.”
Phoenix general David Dome has welcomed McDonald’s to the club’s family of commercial partners.
“This is another massive show of support in the club and its future,” Dome said.
“McDonald’s is the latest blue-chip company to help the club in what are challenging times post Covid.
“They have been big supporters of football in Aotearoa and we were the missing piece.
“It’s great to have them on board and we look forward to working with McDonald’s as our emerging talent and family partner as we expand our relationship with them.”
