Macca’s upgrades to full Nix club combo

The Wellington Phoenix are thrilled to announce McDonald’s has further expanded its partnership with the club as part of a new three-year deal.

As well as continuing to back the Phoenix men and women in the A-League, Aotearoa’s biggest football fans have become an official partner of the club’s academy – pledging their support to the leading high performance pathway in New Zealand football.

The iconic golden arches are now on the shorts of the men’s and women’s reserves in the National League Championship and will be on the sleeves of the men’s and women’s shirts in the upcoming A-League seasons.

McDonald’s is also continuing to support the club’s groundbreaking junior membership initiative, Macca’s Junior Nix, which allows all footballers under 14 registered with a Capital or Central Football club to claim a free junior Phoenix membership.

It means McDonald’s now supports the full football eco-system in Aotearoa from grassroots and now youth development through to the professional game.

Phoenix general manager David Dome has welcomed the new club-wide partnership.

“We are thrilled McDonald’s is now an official partner of the Phoenix academy,” Dome said.

“We believe our academy is one of the best, if not the best, in the A-League and it’s great it now has the backing of Aotearoa’s biggest football fans.

“Simon Kenny and his team at McDonald’s New Zealand have been fantastic partners over the past three years and have really brought Macca’s Junior Nix to life.

“We look forward to the next three years and what we can achieve together.”

Simon Kenny, head of impact and communications at McDonald’s New Zealand, says it’s great to have a ‘whole of club’ partnership in place with the Nix ahead of a big year for football in New Zealand.

“The club continues to foster and develop great local talent and has a passionate fan base, and we’re working with the Nix to make sure football continues to grow and succeed in New Zealand,” Kenny said.

“With the Phoenix academy included in our new partnership, we’re now supporting the full football player pathway in New Zealand, from junior grassroots, through emerging talent, to the elite end of the sport.

“From a fan perspective, initiatives like the Macca’s Junior Nix programme help get families to the matches, enjoying the football and time together.”
