Doyle hoping for speedy recovery after minor hamstring strain

Doyle hoping for speedy recovery after minor hamstring strain

Wellington Phoenix defender Tom Doyle is looking to get back to full fitness within a fortnight after tests revealed he suffered a minor hamstring strain in the pre-season win over Central Coast Mariners in Nelson on Saturday.

An assessment on Monday revealed that Doyle suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain which generally has a 10 to 14-day recovery time, but can take longer.

The defender, whose recent performances have put him in the frame for international selection, will undergo a scan in the next few days.

If Doyle is selected for the New Zealand squad to play Mexico and USA on 8 and 11 October, a joint decision will be made by the New Zealand Football Federation and Wellington Phoenix on his availability.
