Wellington Phoenix are pleased to announce the addition of three Australian-based players for the upcoming A-League Women’s 2021/22 Season. Te Reremoana Walker, Isabel Gomez and Cushla Rue have all agreed to one-year terms with the Club, and will join up with the Phoenix squad once the team arrives in NSW early next month. Walker, a 17-year-old Kiwi midfielder, has been based in New South Wales since 2017, racking up over 100 matches played and 10 goals scored over five seasons in the NSW NPL Women’s competition.

The Wellington Phoenix are excited to announce a series of structural changes to the Phoenix Academy, with a focus on further improving its already NZ-leading level of service to young Kiwi footballers. The first change sees current Wellington Phoenix Assistant Coach, Chris Greenacre, shift into the Academy Head Coaching role in a move designed to strengthen the Academy’s pathways into the first team.
The Wellington Phoenix wishes to provide an update on the following player injuries: Gary Hooper continues to rehabilitate from a calf injury he incurred earlier in the pre-season. Hooper has responded well to physio and is on target to return to training in three weeks time. Louis Fenton is recovering from a knee injury which he sustained late last week. This injury is expected to keep Fenton out of action for the next six weeks.
The Wellington Phoenix are pleased to announce the signing of Canterbury United Pride teammates Kate Taylor and Zoe McMeeken to its inaugural A-League Women’s squad. This will be a great experience for these girls, both on and off the field; we’re looking forward to their contribution next season – it’s a great feeling to be able to give Kiwi young players like Zoe and Kate an opportunity to grow.

Wellington Phoenix are pleased to announce that talented midfielder Luka Prso has signed a one-year contract with the Club, after negotiating a release from one of Croatia’s largest clubs, NK Osijek. Honestly, it’s a great feeling – I’ve been told a lot about the coach and the Club, and I’ve been following the A-League for the past 10 years or so and Wellington have always been a Club that plays good football and has amazing fans; so it’s a really proud moment for me to be joining Wellington.
The Wellington Phoenix is excited to announce goalkeeper Lily Alfeld as the first signing for its brand-new A-League Women’s squad, which is set to kick off its inaugural season in December this year. To be part of the first, inaugural season [with the Phoenix], it’s a chance to create a bit of history so I would love to go out and have a positive start for what will hopefully be many seasons to come; it’s a role I’m very honoured to get a chance to do and I can’t wait to get started.
