Another difficult weekend for the Wellington Phoenix academy.
Auckland proved an unhappy hunting ground for the academy sides, as all three in action lost on the road.
The men’s reserves went down 3-0 to Western Springs on Sunday, while the women’s reserves were beaten 6-1 by Eastern Suburbs.
Poppy O’Brien scored a long-range effort for the Nix, although it only ended up as a consolation goal.
The U-18 women’s side also fell to Eastern Suburbs, but it took a late goal to condemn them to a 2-1 defeat.
Bridie Christie kept her hot streak alive by scoring in that game after last week’s hattrick.
This weekend, the men’s reserves face Coastal Spirit, the women’s reserves play Western Springs, and the U-18 women are against Fencibles.
All the matches are at Fraser Park in what looks like a bumper home weekend of academy football.
