An outstanding set of performances for the Wellington Phoenix academy.
The men’s reserves secured their first points of the Dettol National League with a 3-0 hammering of Christchurch United at Fraser Park.
Luke Flowerdew, Luke Supyk, and Fergus Gillion all scored, as the team roared back into form with a number of players back in the fold after the U-20 World Cup.
The women’s reserves also grabbed a creditable draw away to Canterbury United Pride, having twice led through Isla Cleall-Harding and Grace Bartlett’s goals.
A Bridie Christie brace from the bench earned a point for the U-18 women in the Youth National League, who also faced Canterbury.
It is the side’s first point in the league, as they look to kickstart their campaign.
And a men’s U-17 side faced Auckland FC across two matches, drawing 0-0 in the first and winning 5-3 in the second.
Willem Des Tombe, Jacob Kleinsmith, Charlie Hale, plus a Zach Cashmore double, meant the team could enjoy a derby win.
This weekend, the women’s reserves host Auckland United in a rematch of the Kate Sheppard Cup final, with the men’s reserves facing the same opposition away.
The U-18 women will play Tauranga Moana, also at home.
