Academy Roundup – Week 19

Plenty of goals in the Wellington Phoenix academy’s games over the weekend.

The men’s reserves, men’s U18s, and boys’ U16s all faced Wellington Olympic, who completed a clean sweep over the Nix.

The men’s reserves lost 3-0 at home, while the U18s went down 4-3 and the U16s narrowly lost 2-1.

The goalscorers for the U18 boys were Ben Trenberth, Luqman Ibrahim, and Jack Perniskie, while Jack Clegg nabbed the lone goal for the U16 boys.

There was a remarkable comeback for the women’s reserves against Upper Hutt City, where two goals from Lily Brazendale and one from Sienna Candy turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 win.

Another goalfest occurred for the U16 girls, Ruby Barber, Florence George, and Victoria George all on the scoresheet in a 3-3 draw with Onslow/North Wellington.

And the U15 boys also enjoyed a victory, strikes from Harry Grosso, Shaine-Nashe Marahwa and Sam Kiore leading to a 3-0 win over Petone.

The U14 boys also comfortably beat Greytown FC 3-0.

The women’s U18s match against Palmerston North Marist was postponed.

This weekend, the men’s reserves host Western Suburbs, while the women’s reserves travel to Waterside Karori.

The U18 boys face Victoria University, and the U18 women have a trip to New Plymouth against Moturoa.

The U16 boys play Miramar, the U15 boys play Wellington Olympic, and the U14 boys have Petone FC.
