Peña, also known as Mandi, arrived from Almeria in the Segunda Division, Spain. He has enjoyed a stellar career at a high level in Spain, turning out for Real Madrid B between 2010 and 2012. Mandi began his senior career at Vecindario in the Canary Islands before moving on to Villareal B. He later joined Real Madrid B in 2010 going in to make 47 appearances, scoring two goals during his tenure there. Mandi, was integral within the midfield of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 squad, scoring and assisting twice with a 79.6% passing accuracy. The Spaniard scored one of the goals of the season against Western Sydney Wanderers as he looped a sumptuous free kick over the wall and into the net, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
