Women’s fixtures released for 2024-25 season

The draw for the newly named Ninja A-League has finally been revealed, with the Wellington Phoenix to play all 11 of their homes matches at their Porirua Park fortress.

The Phoenix will open the 2024-25 season with a trip to Victoria to play Western United on Friday, November 1 before returning home to host Canberra United on Sunday, November 10.

It is the first of seven Sunday matches at Porirua Park, with their other four home games to be played on Saturdays.

All of the women’s home matches will kick-off at 4pm.

Eventual champions Sydney FC were the only team to beat the Phoenix at Porirua last season. The Nix won four of their other five matches at the ground, drawing the other, scoring 13 goals and keeping three clean sheets.

Phoenix head coach Paul Temple is looking forward to returning to Porirua Park.

“We all loved playing in Porirua last season,” Temple said.

“The Yellow Fever created an incredible atmosphere and made it feel like home for all of the players and staff.

“Our results at Porirua Park proved it was a difficult place for teams to visit and we hope our fans can make it a fortress for us again this season.”

The Phoenix will play all 11 other Ninja A-League clubs both home and away, and will play Adelaide United three times with their first meeting in Sydney as part of the A-Leagues’ Unite Round on Friday, November 22.

“It’s great to have a schedule so we can start planning in earnest for our season opener in just seven weeks’ time,” Temple said.

“I can’t wait to get all of the players together for pre-season training and to improve on the building blocks we laid last season.”
