Wellington Phoenix Confirms Backroom Staff for 2021/22 Season

With the Wellington Phoenix Men’s and Women’s squads set to travel to New South Wales this afternoon to begin their respective A-League 2021/22 campaigns, the Club can now confirm the backroom staff who will be travelling.

For the women’s side, Gemma Lewis will travel as Head Coach of this inaugural squad, with Natalie Lawrence as her Assistant Coach. Trinity Allen also joins the squad as Goalkeeping Coach, coming over from the Junior Matilda’s setup.

Tracey Spray – previously Team Manager for the Women’s U20s, Women’s U17s, Futsal Whites & Futsal Ferns – has been named as Operations Manager, serving alongside fellow Ferns staffer Alice Noyer as its Team Analyst. Estelle Harrison also joins the squad as Equipment Manager.

The new Head of Strength and Conditioning will be Daniel Gordon, while Brendan Wyatt – formerly with the Men’s side – joins as Head Physiotherapist.

For the men’s side, Coach Ufuk Talay returns for his third season at the Helm of the Nix, with Giancarlo Italiano returning as Assistant Coach and Football Operations Manager Shaun Gill returning for his ninth season. Assistant Coach Chris Greenacre will remain in New Zealand during this period to fulfil his duties as Phoenix Reserve Team Head Coach.

Also returning to the side is Ben Venn as Head Physiotherapist, with newcomer Cory Glover serving as Assistant Physiotherapist, and Goalkeeping Coach Paul Gothard who returns for his fourth season with the ‘Nix.

Three new additions to the Football department this season are Weijie Lim as Head of Strength and Conditioning, Jack Mapp as Equipment Manager and Logan Hughes as Analyst.
