The Wellington Phoenix were amongst the big winners at The Post Gold Awards for 2024.
The Phoenix took out the prize for the Vibrant Gold category which celebrates businesses across the Wellington region in events, hospitality and tourism.
Marketing manager Emma Rogers accepted the award on behalf of the Phoenix at the Embassy Theatre on Thursday night.
“It has been an incredible 12 months for the club and it’s very humbling to be recognised amongst the best of the best of the region’s businesses,” Rogers said.
“On and off the field the Phoenix are thriving. The first teams are coming off their best-ever seasons, the academy is leading the way in developing the next generation of Kiwi footballers, and our award-winning Football For All programme now helps more than two thousand tamariki and rangatahi play futsal or football in Aotearoa.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the other fantastic businesses in the Vibrant Gold category and all of those celebrated tonight.”
Featherston Booktown, New Zealand Fringe Festival, Pukaha National Wildlife Centre, The White Swan Hotel and Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne were the other finalists in the Vibrant Gold category.
The Post Gold Awards have ben celebrating excellence and enterprise of businesses in the greater Wellington region since 1999.
It is the first time the Phoenix have been a recipient at the Gold Awards. The club was a finalist in the Vibrant Gold category in 2015.
