The Wellington Phoenix are flying high both on and off the field with the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season only two days away and a record 3,470 loyal fans signing up to support the team.
The bar for the season was set early with record first day sales in July and the excitement hasn-t waned. The final three days of the pre-season will see numbers pass the Club-s previous record tally of 3,464 in season 2008/09.
With over 3,470 fans currently signed up to support the Club, General Manager David Dome says the Club is extremely pleased and encouraged with the support from Phoenix fans.
“The Club is coming off a disappointing 12/13 Season and there is no doubt we were concerned about how the fans were going to react this year.
“But we-ve spent a lot of time in the community in the off season and Ernie has been extremely keen to see the players out amongst the kids and the football clubs pushing that it-s a brave new world.
“I think this coupled with some exciting off season signings and Ernie-s desire to play attacking exciting football has resulted in a positive response from the fans.
“Now all we need is a good crowd on Sunday to get the team off to a winning start”
The Wellington Phoenix welcome the Brisbane Roar to Westpac Stadium for Round 1 of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League on Sunday 13 October. Kick off is 5.00pm.
