We’re looking for a Sports Physiotherapist (0.5 FTE) to join the Wellington Phoenix Football Club’s academy medical and performance team. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working with youth athletes and has a genuine interest in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and pitch-side support.

The role is 20 hours per week, with weekend work required for match-day coverage across the academy. You’ll be part of a supportive physio team, working alongside another 0.5 FTE physio and a full-time physiotherapist who coordinates scheduling, provides mentoring, and leads ongoing professional development.

The Wellington Phoenix Academy has eight teams. For this position, you’ll be working with the Men’s 14’s, 15’s, 16’s and 18’s, and the Women’s 16’s and 18’s.

Key Responsibilities

– Take part in regular CPD, case discussions, and skill-development sessions with the physiotherapy team.
– Provide physiotherapy support to academy players across a range of age groups.
– Carry out injury assessments and develop practical rehab and return-to-play plans.
– Help with weekend match-day cover, including managing acute injuries on the sideline.
– Work closely with coaches, sports science staff, and the wider medical team to support player performance and wellbeing.
– Assist with injury tracking, monitoring player loads, and keeping accurate notes.
